Thread: Is Time Travel Possible?

Hi Everyone,

I have always been fascinated with the idea of time travel but to be honest I dont think that it is really possible as only the present moment exists. I am open to the possibility though. Maybe only travel to just the past or just the future is possible? Perhaps time travel is possible via consciousness only and not physically like Dr Who and his time machine the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space).

If it is possible maybe we can view only and not interact? Where in time and space would you travel to if you could?

there has been those documented moments of people, visibly seeing the past, for instance... i read how this guy was walking up to his home, then in front of him he was walking up the steps with many others, who were obviously dressed from the 1920's, carriages were in the street, people looked at him and carried on, and then as quick as it happened it was over. Or was this recounts of past lives.

If I could go back in time, maybe the 50's, very cool cars and music then :lol:

I think the grandfather paradox does rule out time travel to the past.

IF there are parallel universes, and many scientists think there are, then there is a parallel universe absolutely like ours in every detail except 100 years behind us. I think traveling to this parallel would be like time travel but it actually is parallel jumping (or what I call pivoting). Then if you kill that parallel version of your grandfather, you aren't killing your grandfather and there is no paradox.

Likewise, jumping would enable us to go to a parallel that is identical to ours but 100 years into the future. I would think this would be more problematic technologically.

the whole thing with time travel all depends on time being linear or cyclindrical

but with the dimension are of this kind of world or not, you should try and get a copy of the forth way it explains other worlds

The biggest theoretical problem is known as the time-travel paradox. If someone travels back in time and does something to prevent their own existence, then how can time travel be possible? The classic example is the time traveller who kills his grandfather before his own father is conceived.

Cosmologists, renowned for their imaginative ingenuity, have come up with a way round this paradox. They have suggested that there is not one universe but many – so many that every possible outcome of any event actually takes place. In this multiple universe, or "multiverse" model, a woman who goes back in time to murder her own granny can get way with it because in the universe next door the granny lives to have the daughter who becomes the murderer's mother.
