    Renewable Energy

    http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Gen ... nts-offers

this tells you all about i haven't looked at rescently but you normally have put the money out first and then you can claim 80% back plus if your in the position to have wind power it ends up paying for its self
as you end up selling back to the grid

you can also age can be factor for some grants, but as you can see scotland has its own way of doing things from the rest of the uk

    Re: grow your own

A government grant of £400 is available towards the cost of installation of solar panels. Solar panels will cost around £4,000 - £6,000 or more for a typical property.
Not exactly a huge incentive, is it??

It seems you need to be wealthy before you can instal this stuff & then claim it back. Rules most of the population out then.

    Re: grow your own

yeah solar panels are about the worsest for money off, but if you live in built up area wind power doesn't work you need a min of 5m per second for wind power to work, i'm going to look for more stuff on this like i said i haven't looked at it in while and i think they have made it hard to get and less money, but if you rent, your land lord has stuff he has to do by 2010 eu directives

    Re: Renewable Energy

Guess if you in built up area solar is possibly the better option, unless your fortunate enough to get land with a running stream. I don't have an issues with solar, long as you have enough deep cell batts, and every other appliance you need, or not, that runs efficiently. 12volt or 240, which ever your preference. I have lived off 12 volt and solar panels for 5yrs, in one of my house buses. It was fine, and could do the same in a house, which is the intention. Just 240 is preferable with kids etc, which requires more batts, panels. A decent drainage system, for heavy rained areas, would run a turbine to charge the batts also in the rain seasons

    Re: Renewable Energy

i think the trick with renewables you need split your energy consumtion into its use, wind solar and water for electrical supply and for your heating ground source heat pumps

    Re: Renewable Energy

Though its energy inputs are typically renewable, generating renewable energy is not costless, and like all booming industries, renewable energy faces bottlenecks and supply shortages for its key inputs.

    Re: Renewable Energy

Our new right wing government (National Party) who have been in power 9 long months, have decided it's a brilliant idea to open up our conservation land ( that brings in 20 billion per year via tourism) for mining, which might have about 140 billion worth of $$.

They quoted how they were successful in compromising with the green party, when they opened a coal mine in the south island ( cause coal is clean and green) and moved a habitat of rare carnivorous land snail Powelliphanta snails, only discovered in 1996. They forgot to mention the re homing of these rare snails, who only lived in that spot in the world, are now dying, and will be extinct possibly by the end of the year.

yay, so our pristine mountains, walkways, which have been protected to date, are now about to be ripped up....neato... cause coal is really the way ahead... damn dimwits in power

Norway, Germany <<<< those countries are very revolutionary with thinking forward about tomorrow, and power, re newable energy sources.
