    Solar Heating

Solar energy can be used to heat your home, your domestic water, or your swimming pool. Using solar collectors, the radiant energy from the Sun is captured and converted into heat. Solar heating systems collect, store, and distribute this heat using passive or active solar energy methods.

There are three types of solar power heating applications you can use for your home...

    * Solar Space Heating uses solar thermal energy to heat the space inside a building.
    * Solar Water Heating uses solar thermal energy to heat your household water.
    * Solar Pool Heating uses solar thermal energy to heat your swimming pool water.

These three basic heating applications can also be broken down into active solar energy systems and passive solar energy systems.

thanks for the info but wont need the swimming pool info unless you can have solar powered puddle LOL

As with everything there is always a larger perspective with which to observe. Solar panels are largely dependent on industry/manufacturing. Many of the materials being used can be equated to a specific amount of life taken from Earth as well as a certain quanta of environment that will no longer support such life. For example: It takes two quarts of oil to manufacture just one CD (compact disk). This says nothing of the shipping or infrastructure necessary for all of this to occur.

long term impact on the planet is less for solar panels than nucler power, when a solar panel breaks they don't need to incase it into concrete and then make a fake hill out of it while its core is cooling down

the more self sufficent people become the more aware of the earth you become and this can't be a bad thing respecting the earth

    Re: Solar Heating

In order to define good or bad would require an in depth understanding and comprehension of all things at once. Hence good and bad are non-Sequitur. The farther reaching the affect (the less localized) the less one is personally sharing the burden of the action. Neither solution is viable when harmony is considered. It is the self that is willing to sacrifice any others for the sake of comfort and declaring it "justifiable" as a lessor evil. There are only truths of varying degrees. The more universal the truth the less action occurs regardless of intent. If the one committing the action is required to exist in/as whatever life is being sacrificed for the occurrence would the occurrence or action continue? Those being sacrificed rarely have a known face or a voice of any kind. Is the energy that is desired "required" for the one's existence? If so why? In the very long run if the rule of the Universe is "do no harm" and "complete harmony" for all, is such a need or desire likely to persist? Does it seem likely that the Universe will bend or change everything that is for the one's desire/need? Or, does it seem more likely (efficient) to change the one with the desire?

    Followup:
In actuality the energy produced by solar panels is not very efficient at all. Neither is nuclear power if infrastructure and waste are considered. On a strictly atom for atom comparison, however, nuclear power could be considered far more efficient. But it is not really a question of energy efficiency. As with everything it is a question of harmony which can be directly expressed as momentum. Any and all dis harmonic momentum is damaging to all systemically. No one being or race or planet has the necessary universal perspective to make such decisions for all else. This is ultimately the reason for the demise of every society that has ever existed. There are no exceptions. Society requires each to posses an ego which by definition and incept creates an "us" and a "them". There is no more glaring example than the human belief that humans are superior to all other life.

It is not necessary for any one to believe this for it to be true. It is not necessary for me to write it or say it for it to be true. It is true because it considers all equally. Only something outside the Universe could possibly know what is best or right for all. From inside the universe, as we are currently, we can only know what the universe allows or grants. Simply stated: the environment and all life it contains can and has exist / existed without a single human. A single human cannot exist without the environment and all that it contains the best of our collective awareness. Those humans that continue to exist will do so in a very simplistic fashion by comparison to what we currently know. Who are these likely to be? What choices does each of us have in this decision making process that is the universe's?
